The United States is experiencing a weight management crisis with a high prevalence of overweight and obesity observed year over year. The ramifications of the obesity epidemic extend beyond vanity—the impact of obesity stands to limit lifespan, health-span, and overall quality of life while straining heath care. Yet, knowledge gaps in obesity as a disease along with cultural weight bias and stigma present persistent barriers to care. Family practice clinicians are key voices in the obesity conversation and must be empowered with evidence and tools to address obesity. This program is not intended or eligible for continuing medical education (CME) credits and does not meet guidelines governing CME.

Dr. Kristin Hoddy, PhD, RD is an obesity subject matter expert with training in exercise science and dietetics. Complementing a decade of clinical research in obesity and lifestyle-based weight management interventions, she also has experience from the health and fitness industry as a former performance consultant and corporate wellness director. Kristin is passionate about bringing awareness to the importance of obesity care. As an Obesity Medical Liaison with Novo Nordisk, she strives to be a resource for scientific information and aims to support obesity champions in their efforts to advance cardiometabolic care.
